SPN Rec 'Vertigo from Falling' by [info]girl_wonder
Monday morning before work and I'm reading...wingfic!

In

Vertigo from Falling by[info]girl_wonder

Dean jumps off a bridge, and, just, all those years in fandom, and I still can't get over how completely awesome wingfic is!

(although this felt a little cut off in the end. Just a tiny bit. But still, wingfic!)

J2 Rec 'Lingering in the Golden Gleam' by [info]causeways
It's Sunday morning and, yes, that's right, [info]oceana_ is up reading J2 again. And the fic that totally made my Sunday is

'Lingering in the Golden Gleam' by [info]causeways

"On New Year's Eve ten years after the end of Supernatural, Jared goes to sleep in Los Angeles and wakes up in Vancouver, in bed with Jensen Ackles. And they've got kids."

This is just completely wonderful and hits all my domesticity, kidfic, first time etc kinks (which, yes, I have all these kinks and I'm not ashamed to admit it), while at the same time, because of its concept, it never is schmoopy and sappy the way these kinds of fics tend to be, because you are left guessing until the end of it's real, and it really drove me insane, not knowing how this glimpse of perfect life that Jared got there would end for him.(and I'm not gonna tell you, just read it yourself)

Also? I really really love famous!Jared.

SPN Rec 'Journey' by[info]ficwriter1966
Yes, I really am reccing something. I know you didn't believe in this ever happening again, but here I am, so thanks for sticking around. And please don't take my rec as an attempt to finally chase you all away, because seriously, I know you are all here for the slash, and there'll be more of that in the future, but today I have to rec some gen.

Long, plotty gen.

The kind of story that usually makes me run away screaming, because I don't have the patience for long and plotty gen, not if it is not leading up to some sex somewhere in between.

It's all different with the Winchesters, of course, because they are all about the heartbreak and the hunting and the angst, and I'd be satisfied with just staring at them, gen, het, slash or whatever. So I read gen, long plotty gen, and OMG this was all sorts of perfect.

'Journey' by[info]ficwriter1966

reads like an episode of the show, only one that isn't told to fit into 43 minutes and change. Journey is an episode that shows all the scenes that the show doesn't, all the details, painful, funny or otherwise. And then some of the aftermath, just enough to give us closure, or at least hope for closure one day.

It's a second season AU, but as I said, it could be an episode. Sam may be falling for Sarah (from Provenance), while Dean is slowly falling apart, when the boys go demon hunting and soul searching in Brooklyn. Did I mention that this is all sorts of perfect?

Please, please read this. I promise that it isn't all gen, the boys get their fair amount of sex, like it should be, but it's gen in the way it isn't focused on the sex. It 's focused on Sam and Dean and hunting and I really really loved this.

ETA: This is flocked. Yes, I know. But it's worth it! It's unlocked!

You know I like my Gibbs/DiNozzo to be angsty and unable to say what they want or admit what they feel? Well, apparently Devix likes hers to be the same way.

In

Why it doesn't rain in Mexico by Devix

Devix puts all their pain and loneliness into one single scene. Gibbs has come back from Mexico and Tony visits him at home. There's so much that isn't said here, so much pain between the carefully held coffeecups and the rain outside. Maybe you have to like them the way I do to appreciate this fic, but if you do, this will leave you hurting in the good way. (and you know it'll always get better later, right?)

I should probably mention that this is filed as gen. Of course you didn't really think you could stick Tony and Gibbs into a room together and expect it to be gen, did you?

SN Rec for [info]paian:

I haven't read or watched Sports Night in ages, but Paian request and my consequent search for some good fics I've read back then, makes me want to rewatch Sports Night again. Which I should really do, but see, with the episodes being so short, I always think "Just one more", and then I don't sleep (again) and am late for work. So it's safer to just reread some fic which has the same quirky, fast Dan/Casey dialogue as the show, plus even more gayness.

Call of the Wild by Helen

for example.

And another NCIS rec, because all good things come in threes. Or something. This one is also older, but we already established that I suck at keeping up with my reccing (and I can't believe it's been almost 6 months since I last updated! Why did no one come and kick me for that? I feel unloved.)

Another Dead Boy Racer by Jane Davitt

Starts with a bit of dialogue that would be a tiny bit too steamy for my Gibbs/DiNozzo (though so very true), if it wasn't for the last sentence from Gibbs, which made me smile and think, yes, that's them, that's why I love them and why they make me happy. I would almost say that this is what that scene would be like on the show, only we will never see it on the show. Damn. Welll, more possiblities for us to play with, I guess. I'll stop rambling now and let you read.

NCIS Rec 'Interrogative' by [info]thehoyden
More NCIS fic which made me happy and a bit nostalgic, in the way it reminded me of my old love xf, where oh-so-many first time stories took place in hotel rooms. This one I actually found a while ago, but then didn't rec, because I sometimes often suck that way.

Interrogative by [info]thehoyden

Lovely, sweet and still in-character first time Gibbs/DiNozzo. I just love the way they don't talk in this one, because for once it isn't angsty, it's just the way they are.

This reccing business is just full of surprises...look what I found!

'Three NCIS ficlets' by [info]whatifisaidno

Hot and in character and really, any Gibbs/DiNozzo fic that is in character deserves celebration, but even more so if it has Tony on his knees. Or in handcuffs. Go read. (and then complain that these are way too short, so I don't have to do it. Don't want to seem ungrateful. *g*)

HP rec for [info]whatifisaidno:

Interesting turn-around on the most common Harry/Snape story - Harry has an accident and finds himself not only thrown into the year 1971, but also Snape's teacher. I like how the characters develop in this one, so different and yet so much the same. And the paradox of timetravel is also handled perfectly.

J2 Rec 'Win-Win Situation' by [info]mediaville
Here's [info]oceana_, with The Sunday Morning News!

This recs journal is not dead! (and you never thought it was, hear me?).

This Sunday morning I bring you the "aliens-made-them-do-it" version of the J2 universe. Let's make no mistake, this is porn, but it's charming, fast and just the right amount of heartbreaking.

Win-Win Situation by [info]mediaville

P.S.: I meant what I said about not being dead. I will update soon. Okay, not soon-soon, but within the next four weeks. Leave a comment with a fandom you'd like to see recced, and I promise I will rec at least one fic or vid in that fandom for you. The rec might be older, but it will be there. All (reasonably popular) fandoms I've previously recced are fair game.

Now go enjoy your Sunday morning porn!

Highlander! Oh, I just can't watch a Highlander vid without squeeing and the obsessing for a few hours. Uhm, yes, that's my personal problem though, feel free to ignore.

Do not ignore my rec, please, even though the only reason I have for reccing it is - again - a personal one. Something about this vid, the scenes, the music, I don't know, reminds me of the French intellectuals, of the post-war philosophical discussions in the famous Paris cafes... I can't explain why, but this overall impression plus Methos is - to me - somehow wildly romantic. I imagine that he would have been part of that, that he has always been part of that in whatever time he lived, part of life, love, the sheer beauty of art and people - the way he still loves, LIVES so much.

Right. I may be overinterpretating this, but just the fact that this vid made me feel this way makes me love it. And, did I mention that I cannot watch a Highlander vid without squeeing and obsessing for a few hours? I knew there was a reason I mentioned this.

Feel free to have your own interpretations and laugh about my French existentialist Methos phantasies. Do watch the vid though, it's very good.

So, reccing NCIS vids is a bit like reccing NCIS fic - you take what you can get, and sometimes, you find a gem.

This vid, well, I actually quite like this vid. It's Gibbs/DiNozzo, and the song, Wicked Game, is not the slow Isaak version, but a cover that is much more fitting. I think what I enjoy most is that it is from Gibbs POV, there's some very nice scenes, like Gibbs watching Tony leave the office at night, and the lyrics, though you wouldn't think so, are very much Tony and Gibbs.

"I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you."
Yeah, I bet you didn't. ;-)

The only flaw, and I'm sorry to say that it is a big flaw, is the picture quality. Why can't this be a pretty, shiny vid with great picture quality? As I said, you take what you can get. Take this, then. And then please, somebody give this vidder a better vidding program. Or whatever it is you people use to make your vids all shiny.

Another take on the most popular story in fandom, but oh, what a take. It's about regrets, and the stubborness of having a past that one can't change. It's about love, desperate, hurting love, about violence and power and OMG I'm going to start obsessing about Methos and Kronos AGAIN. It's a Duncan/Methos vid though, but there is no Methos without Kronos. And they both know it.

This vid hit all my Methos buttons, and by making some scenes slower, Kres manages to connect Methos how he was then with Methos who he is now in a way that makes my head spin with possibilities. So vulnerable, so powerful, so everything all at once and here I go obsessing AGAIN. Damn it! Look what this vid does to me!
